Fish Creek Falls Trail
After making the roundtrip to the summit of the Fish Creek Overlook Trail, we went down to the Underlook. Okay, I just made up that last part. But from the same parking lot you can hit either trail, so we decided to descend down the depths of the Fish Creek Falls Trail to see, you guessed it: Fish Creek Falls. And when I say descend, it’s a sharp decline the entire way to the waterfall, which I absolutely loved on the way down. But on the way back up, not so much, especially carrying children. The water fall was beautiful though and there are some great views on this trail. You can easily do the Overlook and the Falls trails back to back and I recommend checking out both if you’re in Steamboat Springs, Colorado.
My wife and family (and framily) are featured in the photos below. As you can imagine, hiking with 3 kids involves carrying as little gear as possible as you might have to carry a child at some point. So for the slower shutter speed shot of the waterfall I had to freehand it without a tripod/monopod. The SS was 1/2 sec and I tried to remain as still as possible to capture the smooth water effect. Gear wise, the usual suspects are my Fujifilm XT-3 and XF18-55mm lens, which I used for all of these shots. For the editing, I used Adobe Lightroom. And as always, you can download these photos and more in full resolution at Pexels or Pixabay.
